Should my business have a mobile app?
Studies show that the average consumer spends 2 hours a day on their phone, and 90% of that time is spent inside apps. So, what do you think? Well it’s not quite that simple. If you own a plumbing company, you probably don’t need one (maybe you’re an innovator Mr. Steve Clogs. You get it? Steve Clogs? Never mind). So why spend the money? Why mobile applications for small business?
Mobile Apps are not that expensive
No one expects you to hire a software developer and build one from scratch. Some companies (*wink*) offer prebuild templates that you can customize to fit your needs. The complexity of your app can be as simple as a vehicle for a loyalty program, to as complicated as its own online store.
The marketing opportunities…
Imagine your walking down the street past an Arby’s. You happen to have the Arby’s app downloaded on your phone because you have amazing taste in food. As your walking by your phone dings, oh look it’s a coupon for Arby’s! Coincidence? Welcome to Geo-Fencing! Now imagine doing that when your customers go near a competitor? (Cue maniacal laughter).
Get on board early.
As technology continues to get more advanced, applications are only going to become more integrated with our daily lives. This guy says it best, “Which is easier? Getting 100,000 new people to find, download and sign up for your app, or getting 100,000 people who have already downloaded your app to update it?”. I think we both know the answer.
Two thirds of Americans check their phone once every 60min. Imagine your app on their font page? Talk about staying top of mind!
In conclusion, with apps only becoming more integrated into our everyday life, getting your business a mobile app is going to be a good idea. Especially if your business is a retailer or business to consumer company. With today’s technology, there is no excuse to be afraid of mobile applications for small business.Sorry Steve Clogs.
